Surveillance & Investigations Specialists are able to provide you, the client with due diligence via background checks of vendors, employees and potential business relationships. We can conduct fully confidential background checks starting with just a first name and an address if that's all you have. It's important for you to know if the person you are dealing with is genuine. We make sure that nothing is left to chance. This service that we have provided over many years has resulted in many of our clients avoiding bad publicity, loss of reputation and loss of money and possessions.

Of the many surveys and studies performed into resume fraud, results indicate that anywhere between 20% and 30% of all resumes contain at least one lie or fabrication.

Many business owners have learned that it can be a time consuming, disruptive and expensive situation trying to get rid of an unwanted employee. Our advice based on years of experience is for the employer to initiate detailed background employee checks to confirm their potential new employee is genuine and they are who they say they are.

We therefore strongly advise that employers do the following to find out if the person is genuine:

  • Does the person have a criminal record?

  • Have they a history of regular attendance at work?

  • Are they solvent?

  • Have they a checkable and genuine background?

We always advise that the minimum requirement on a potential employee is to carry out a criminal history check.

Note that there is an average time delay of about 15 days for the results of the checks to come through from the relevant authorities; this means that the employer should take into account this situation before giving the potential employee a position in the company.

These checks should be aligned with investigative enquiries carried out by our qualified investigators to ascertain previous employer reference checks are true and genuine. In other words that the person actually worked at the business they said they did!

Also bear in mind that if you offer employment to a person that will be involved in an appointment of financial responsibility (example - running your firms accounts), then we would also advise carrying out finance and credit checks on that person.

They might have money problems and this may attract them to ‘misappropriate funds’.
